Nathan
Soucie

Nathan Soucie shakes hands with Director of
Institutional Advancement Susan Kirkpatrick.
When Nathan Soucie decided to attend a Business
After Hours at Aims, he never thought the networking
event sponsored by the Greeley/Weld Chamber of Commerce
would lead to an opportunity for him to leave a mark
on his alma mater.
As the
assistant vice president at the Bank of Colorado,
Soucie figured he’d get some leads for his
commercial lending activities, sure, but he left
that night with something more: a brick. That’s
right, Soucie’s business card was chosen over
a hundred others to receive a brick paver for Aims’ new
Allied Health and Sciences building, which is scheduled
to be open for classes in Fall 2007. He gets 54 characters
to say whatever he’d like, and be immortalized
in concrete.
“I
dedicated the brick to my two daughters, who are
5 and 3,” Soucie said. “I told them it
will be on a big building for a long time.”
The girls
seemed to be impressed by that, he said, adding that
he plans to bring the whole family to visit the brick
once the building is completed.
Soucie
came to Aims in 1999, fresh from a four-year stint
in the Navy. After earning his A.A. degree, he transferred
to UNC for his bachelor’s degree.
As for
his education at Aims, Soucie said it was the right
fit at the right time.
“Being out of school for four years, I didn’t feel like I was ready
to jump into a university setting,” he said. “But Aims is really
set up like a university, and it’s cheaper, too. “
In 15
years, when his oldest daughter is ready for college,
Soucie said he’ll encourage her to attend Aims.
“For
parents paying for college, it’s a better avenue
to go financially,” he said. |
